L’affection spéciale du Saint d’Assise pour les animaux encourage en effet de nombreuses personnes à marcher en compagnie de leur chien. "L'Attestato del Pellegrino a quattro zampe" è una cartolina raffigurante San Francesco e il Lupo ammansito con il nome del proprio cane o altro essere vivente, attraverso la quale si intende riconoscere il valore della compagnia offerta al pellegrino durante il cammino verso Assisi. Lo speciale affetto del Santo di Assisi per gli animali, infatti, incoraggia molte persone a camminare in compagnia del proprio cane.
